We are very lucky that most years we can get the children on a whole Nursery trip!
We have a super time! We all go together on the bus & then explore.
We meet all the animals, watch Farmer Kiley shear a sheep, give the baby lambs their milk.
We watch as the hen houses are checked for eggs & learn about the different types of animals.
We enjoy our lunch there in the picnic area, have a little play before going back off to explore some more!
It really is a lovely way to finish off the Nursery year!
A visit to Braintree fire station is really a lovely treat! We go there during our People Who Help Us topic.
We meet the Fire Officers, look at their uniforms & all the kit we need. Even the Aunties get a chance to dress up!
We get to see all the fire equipment, learn what it's used for & the fire officers tell us what sort of things they help us with.
We even get a chance to sit in the fire engine! It is brilliant!
Using the hoses is brilliant too - it's likely we will end up getting wet!
During our People Who Help Us weeks, we are also very lucky to meet a real Police Officer!
We learn all about what a Police Officer does, we dress up in his uniform, use his radios & get to sit in his car!
Police Officer Mark also brings his Police Dogs to meet us. He has a special police car, so the dogs can go in the back. He tells us the jobs that his dogs do with him.
Some of us think we might like to be Police Officer's when we grow up!
The Flitch Way is right close by, so it's lovely to be able to use an area that is super safe. We wear our special hi-vis jackets & are strapped to the walk-o-diles until we get on to the Flitch.
We remember our Nursery rules while we are on the Flitch & although we stick really close to the Aunties it's really nice to be able to have a little safe explore.
We can use the Flitch Way across the whole year. We go on Wellie Walks, Easter Egg Hunts, Minibeast Hunts & nature walks.
It's lovely to be able to get out into the environment & see the changes that happen across the seasons.
One of the best trips is a trip to Witham on the train! We are so lucky we get to to do this & it really is brilliant, especially for those children who may have never been on the train.
The ride to Witham from Braintree isn't very long. When we get there we are able to walk up the platform, & have a look at all the trains.
The train drivers always give us a wave... & maybe a honk on the horn!
We are strapped to the walk-o-diles so it is really safe & we have plenty of Aunties that come with us.
We are then able to pop to the very nice waiting room! Here we can safely watch the trains from the window.
We have a drink & a biscuit, read a train story & draw our own train pictures. We then make the short walk back to the platform & enjoy another trip back on the train to Braintree.
As a not for profit Nursery, we like to try & make money for new resources & equipment as well as for our whole Nursery visit. We involve small businesses & the local community in our Fairs.
We ask many of the local businesses to have a stall at the Fair, or to provide us with a raffle prize.
As well as small business stalls, we have our own Nursery stalls, like games, tombolas & lots of fun!
At Christmas we are able to meet Father Christmas. This is lovely & often the only experience children get for meeting him.
